A Banjara artisan hand-stitching mirrors onto embroidered fabric

Our Story

Born from Wandering Roots

The Banjara are India's original wanderers — caravan traders who crossed the Deccan carrying salt, cattle and an extraordinary textile language. Their women stitched their wealth into their clothes: tiny mirrors to catch the desert light, cowrie shells, coins, and embroidery so dense it reads like a map of the journey.

BANJARA began in a Hyderabad courtyard, sitting with grandmothers who still remember the stitches their mothers taught them. We record those patterns, pay for them properly, and reinterpret them into garments a woman can actually wear — to a wedding in Jaipur or a dinner in London.

Nothing here is printed to imitate embroidery. Every mirror is set by hand, every slight irregularity is the signature of the person who made it.

Testimonials

Loved Worldwide

★★★★★

I wore the Royal Mirror Lehenga for my sangeet in Surrey and three people asked to photograph the hem. It arrived in eighteen days, perfectly measured.

I grew up around this embroidery, so I'm fussy. The mirror work is genuine abhla, hand-set, and the weight of the fabric is exactly right.

Ordering over WhatsApp felt like talking to a tailor down the street, not a website. They sent photos while my piece was being stitched.
